Bridal hair colour is the appointment where the stakes are highest and the margin for error is smallest. Most of the problems we see come not from bad technique but from a timeline that was too compressed. This is the schedule we recommend to every bride who comes to us.

Start earlier than you think you need to

If your goal involves significant lightening, the process should start at least four to five months before the wedding date. This gives enough time to reach the target colour across multiple sessions without rushing the lift, and it means the hair has time to settle and recover between appointments.

For brides who are already at or close to their target colour, three months is usually enough. The key is that the final colour appointment should be no later than two weeks before the wedding, which gives any toner time to settle and allows for a small adjustment if needed.

The trial appointment

We schedule the trial colour and cut session four to six weeks before the wedding. This is not a rehearsal for the style only. It is a full colour appointment at the target formula, so that we know exactly how the hair responds and the bride knows exactly what she will look like on the day.

The trial also gives us a chance to identify anything unexpected, a shift in porosity, a toner that pulls warmer than expected, a cut that needs a small adjustment. Four to six weeks is enough time to address any of these without panic.

What to avoid in the final month

The most common mistake we see is a client trying a new product or a DIY treatment in the weeks before the wedding. Anything that changes the porosity or the surface of the hair can affect how the toner sits on the day.

Avoid keratin treatments, at-home glosses, or any new protein treatment in the four weeks before the wedding-day appointment. If you are unsure whether something is safe to use, send us a message before you apply it. We would rather answer a quick question than spend the wedding-day appointment managing an unexpected result.

The brides who have the smoothest experience are the ones who start the conversation early and let the timeline breathe. If your date is within the next six months, now is a good time to get in touch.
